Ruaridh McIntosh-Turner

Young Drummer of the Year (top 40), 2010

From an early age I became fascinated by drumming and joined Rossini’s  Ritimo Drum School when I was 10 years old. Over the years I was exposed to a wide variety of Latin and Funk music, which became a huge part of my playing style. As well as  Rossini,  I was also introduced to the great drumming styles of Tony Royster Jr,  Dennis Chambers, Thomas Lang, and Dave Wreckl . These great drummers inspired me with fresh ideas and good influence.

In early 2010 I was in the top 40 in the Young Drummer of The Year national competition.
In 2010 I took part in the Ritimo Drum festival  in Moray which was a great success.
In 2010/11 I gained a place at the City of Edinburgh Music School ( a highly prestigious music school which focuses on intense tuition  of instruments and performance) and will graduate later this year.

I owe a lot to the enormous enthusism, talent and encouragement that Rossini gave me throughout my years of lessons. Going to the Ritimo drum school has been a huge part of my life, and has allowed me to progress my skills within drumming to a very high level, as well as exposing me to a wide variety of Brazilian music, which has also been a huge influence within my drumming.
